Haang kaang - NYLONKONG, the world city H.K - pearl of the orient

Hong Kong is a world city. It is one of the Alpha+ cities. Also, a Time Magazine article in 2008 coined the phrase "Nylonkong", which referred to New York City, London and Hong Kong, that these three cities form a global network that facilitates the global economy. As Hong Kong ranks the third most important leading international financial centre, after London and New York City, Hong Kong has a major capitalist service economy characterised by low taxation and free trade.

The name "Hong Kong" is an approximate phonetic rendering of the pronunciation of the spoken Cantonese or Hakka name , meaning "fragrant harbour". Before 1842, the name referred to a small inlet—now Aberdeen Harbour or hoeng1gong2 zai2 "Little Hong Kong"—between Aberdeen Island and the south side of Hong Kong Island, which was one of the first points of contact between British sailors and local fishermen.

goa ah ha ha aah haa haa..

bombay to goa - along the alternative route less taken..

facebook link

Obviously!! had to be all excited and thrilled..
all the hype and commotion that had been created about GOA..

everyone would be like, DUDE!!! u haven't been to GOA???
Until my first visit, I would be, SO??

and Now I know, what was missed.. If you love being yourself and enjoy freedom.. this is the place to be..

More importantly was excited about the first visit on my bike along the road less traveled,
from coast to coast..
the route has so much to offer,  the sun the sand the sea, virgin beaches, forts, awesome food and history with nature giving us the shade all along the roads..

and then what! the wait was over and we were all set to roll..

all geared up and set to roll! Early winter mornings, when its difficult to get out of the quilts and want jus that another precious 5 minutes of the extra sleep
Our rides all lined to get on board of the ferry from Bhaucha dhakka to Reva danda.
Rides all Que'd up to get on Board of Ferry ride
Moments before the Maiden ride on the Ferry
"the Mustang" is  Aboard - all hands on deck..
Busy hands on board weaving the net..
Seagulls accompanying us all along, and we kept them Happy!
Our first pit stop of the day, got a taste of konkan

pashu ghar, intelligently designed with multi levels
capturing ' mustang' with the beauty around..

when the I got captured
guardians of the seas..

Overlooking the vast arabian sea, built by the Hindu samrat and visionary king the great Maratha warrior Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

History restored along, a small palace which now belongs to some nizams
cathcing a glimpse of the vastness and feeling humbled
Bridging the gap.. Just where the creek merges in with the Arabian Sea

and the MAP.. route LESS taken always has a lot MORE to offer
Important time-table for the ferries, valid as on Feb14

Sunset on the Barge
the handsome me :) and 'Mustang' on one of the Ferry rides along the route

Blessings along the way.. not to mention, temples contribute to a large extent of our tourism and local livelihood
first casualty of the ride, our man at ganpatiphule finally agreed to help on his weekly holiday on a Monday!
FINALLY!! Goaaa.. my first glimpse after crossing Reddi
Good Morning Goa..

And then what! beaches, sunsets shacks and cold drinks to chill, and not to mention the visual delight, all the Gorgeous Russians all over the place

Sunsets Sunsets and more sunsets.. finally had enuf of it..

so, ventured out to see a little more of that Goa has to offer.. during the day that is.. the night outs are exclusive,

thanks to the Portuguese, Goa had some architectural history, else probably it would have been just another fishing village I guess!

Way back was a straight ride back along the highway, clocking goa-bombay 672 kms in 15 hrs, door to door. Not a great achievement, but a personal best, considering this being my first solo ride.

Definitely - A Ride to Remember.
