circuit 20two

circuit 20two

on the hindustan tibet road also know as the NH22
total distance tripped - 1700kms, 10days

Trip starting from bombay, with boarding the bull on train to chandigarh..

getting packed and all set to go..
time to board

arrival @ chandigarh after a gruesome 32hrs with Indian Railways.. Ufff!!
riding on the worlds most treacherous road is a thrill and experience in itself.

apprehension about the trip had already set in before the start due to the the weather and the road conditions, and the national calamity that had struck in uttaranchal just weeks before. But the indications and the skies were saying a different story..

little did we know what's in store for us ahead!

Tunnel thru a rock or mountain?

Road carved out of solid rock.. this can happen only in India!

roads!? Where? this is what we started believing are called Roads

What Lies Beneath.. Roads under land slide..

road blocks and diversions..
Many we spoke to and suggestions on the blogs always discouraged to take the Kinnaur Valley route to Lahau and Spiti Valleys. But the all the other biker comrades always had a word of encouragement.
Riding a bullet had its edge, whenever we asked along the way for the road conditions ahead, ALL had the same answer with a smile, " aap ki toh bullet hai, yeh toh nikal jayegi"  ( u have a Bullet, this will pass thru ) which always gave us the confidence to advance..
But.. when confidence becomes over confidence we are set to doom!! Things were only getting tough and our spirits weak, and things got only bad to worse..

"THE MALLING NALLA"

and this is what all warned us about "the malling nalla"
wondering how this happened? watch this link..

This was as stupid as we could be..

Anyways, life is supposed to be looked ahead and we had to move on, we remembered a saying "himmat ae marda, maddat ae khuda" ( God help those who help themselves) and just did not let our spirits down in spite of the hurdles and kept going..

BULL among the bulls.. taking a break

just when the "roads" got better..

surprise.. surprise!! expect the unexpected in the Himalayas!

now that we got going, the tough got going.

unstoppable even in the Rush hours of the Himalayas.

And! there were some bright and sunny moments too..

along the bad also was the good and actually, the better parts of the trip.. all the food that set our mood..

Eggs for breakfast, maggi for lunch and wholesome food high in carbs and protiens for dinner..
and the trip got along with a new adventure, a new destination everyday, new experiences and new friends

Passing one of most dangerous passes, river streams nallahs, and roads at a few places

from the last village along the India Tibet border
riding on the Worlds most treacherous road, guess! who certified this?
